Embracing Multiculturalism

March 25, 2009 · 6 Comments

Please don’t turn away thinking this is going to be a post which bores you with sociological views on why  multiculturalism needs to be a goal for society.  It should of course be taught but it is not my time to talk of that.  The term multiculturalism generally refers to an applied ideology of racial, cultural and ethnic diversity within the demographics of a specified place, usually at the scale of an organization such as a school, business, neighborhood, city or nation.  Views of becoming a more multicultural society as a whole has been met with controversy.  I think we have a chance to make our world better by sampling off the world platter of men ( or women but I am focusing on men)  in order to promote diversity and understanding.  For world peace I give you this list of the sampling but would accept any additions to this list.

Here is the list in no specific order but I have listed a few positives for each different group.

1.  America the Beautiful: My if you have not sampled yourself one of America’s finest, now is your time.  American men offer a rugged individualism (both in and out of the bedroom) and a patriotic streak that would make Uncle Sam proud.

2.  Oh Canada: The neighbors to our north possess men who generally love the game of hockey which is high on the testosterone index. These men are the strong silent types and don’t they hunt beaver up there? (groan)

3. South of the Border: Mexico sits to the south of the U.S. where I live and these men can be hotter than the jalapeno peppers  growing in the field.  After you get past the machismo,  underneath it lies a loyal and caring man. These guys are good to their mamas and hey that means something…

4.  The British Are Coming: Our fellows across the pond have the often been regarded as reserved and stoic.  The British men however seem to have the sweet manners and sexy accent to make any girl swoon!

5.  French Kiss: What can you say about the men who invented the French kiss?  These men seem to learn the art of romance and can make any woman feel like they have been swept off  their feet.

6. Italian Stallion: What is there to say about these guys?  My goodness these men could charm the pants off of you (and might try).  Some vino, Italian words spoken in your ear, and you are hooked.

7.It’s All Greek to Me: This country has some of the sexiest men or so they think… Studies have shown that Greek men feel the sexiest. They have a way with women and are a very flirtatious lot.  Whatever they have, women around the world want it…

8. Brazilian Heat: Women from around the world have found out that these fellas are passionate about live, love, and ladies.  They may be forward in their ways but the payoff can be oh so nice.

9. Down Under: These mates are independent, rugged, and dead-sexy.  The accent alone sends most women reeling.  When it comes to the men of this country most women agree they would like to be “down under” one of these boys.

10.  Caribbean Breeze: Pick out anyone of those countries with beautiful beaches and sparkling blue water.  Growing up in these island paradises lead this group of me to be smooth and laid back lovers who appreciate the female form.

This is just a sampling of some of the men of the world.  There were African countries I wanted to represent but had a hard time narrowing it down to one country.  All I am saying is let’s embrace multiculturalism by embracing each other.   These are generalizations but at least they give you a place to begin.  Promote world peace and sample what our wonderful and diverse world has to offer. Now you can’t say I have not tackled world peace in my blog.   What’s next, corporal punishment? (wink)

Green Beer and Green M&M’s

March 17, 2009 · 7 Comments

Two mysteries of the world will be tackled  today.    I am delving headfirst  on this  St. Patrick’s Day to delve into the legends of why we drink green beer and the myth surrounding the green M&M’s. Hard hitting subjects I know. Life has enough tough stuff and my mantra is to laugh whenever you can…

Green Beer: The truth is that upon further investigation very little can be found on why or when the drinking of the green beer began.  One thing was

Green Beer

Green Beer

clear however;  Americans had something to do with it.   This quote sums it up:    ” Americans have embraced their own St. Patrick’s Day tradition of drinking large amounts of Irish beer or green beer, which has no real historical Irish references at all.”  There were references to the fact that green was the color of the flag of Ireland and that the Irish countryside is green.  The way I interpret this is  that early on here (in United States) the Irish were subjected to unfair and awful treatment.   Wearing of  the green here in America was a way to symbolically raise the middle finger to the establishment.   Please drink up the green beer and think of it as the Irish American contribution to this day.

Green M&M’s: “The green ones make you horny.”   My new favorite name for these beauties is “randy candy.”  Reportedly according to Snopes.com the rumors started in the 1970’s when school age boys picked the green ones out to give to the object of their affection.    Of course in the mind of adolescent boys that meant pick out all of the green M&M’s and give them to the desired female.  In picking those of green color out and segregating them  (my own opinion here) the aphrodisiac attributes became activated.    Mars INC.  the company who makes the candies decided that they should embrace the urban legend.   After 30 years of mostly ignoring the inexplicable urban legend to the effect that green M&Ms have aphrodisiacal  powers, the company has rolled out new magazine and TV ads unabashedly exploiting the candy’s sexy reputation.    Goes to say that green M&M’s have a special place in this girl’s candy dish!

My advice on this St. Patrick’s Day is to take above mentioned green beer and serve to object of one’s obsession affection in rather large amounts to make sure that the said object is able to feel like he and/or she is part Irish.  At that point in time take out the strategically placed candy dish filled with the “randy candy” and see what happens… I can’t say for sure this will work but you gotta have a plan!

By the way if you wonder what I will be wearing on this day let me say that I like to make sure that my green shows to the world on the outside.  As far as what’s underneath , you would have to look to find out… *smirk*

Lover of Books

March 3, 2009 · 6 Comments

My new Kindle 2 arrived earlier this week and I just have to share with you my wonder at this little electronic beauty.  What is it? Something you start a fire with?  Not exactly.  The Kindle is a portable electronic reading device that allows the  reader to reach new heights in terms of reading.  The content of the books by the authors is unchanged on the Kindle.  The stories in their entirety remain just as the author intended.

What does the word kindle mean?

kindle

Verb
[-dling, -dled]
1. to set (a fire) alight or (of a fire) to start to burn
2. to arouse or be aroused: his passions were kindled as quickly as her own [Old Norse kynda]
The Kindle, which I have now used for several days, has ignited this book lover’s fire. Without further ado, I give you the Top Ten Reasons to Love the Kindle 2:
  1. The usability is astounding.  I picked up the Kindle and could almost immediately figure it out.  Very user friendly and clearly marked to lessen the learning curve.
  2. The pages look fantastic.  I love books and can attest to the fact that I love the look and feel of a book,  but this display looks so crisp and clear.  I can even make the font larger if I have tired eyes.
  3. The way that it feels in your hand.  It is so light and is easy to hold and the buttons for” next page” and” previous page” are where you might hold a real book so it feels natural.
  4. The Kindle has the ability to store  over 1,000 books on it and that equals less back strain for me.   I love to have all sorts of reading materials on me and of course don’t know what mood I might be in so I carry lots of books.
  5. The sleep mode has these really cool drawings of famous folks including authors, inventors, etc.  I am always  fascinated to see what picture comes up.
  6. A dictionary and wikipedia come installed on it and are integrated into the Kindle 2 , so I can look even smarter instead of having to ask, “Honey, do you know what this word means?”
  7. A basic web browser with the ability to look up webpages that don’t include lots of images.  I was able to look at this very blog as an example…
  8. It bookmarks automatically.   No buttons to push or try to remember did I save that?  It remembers on multiple books and opens to the right page the next time you open your book.
  9. Amazon. com has the Kindle Store which allows you to buy wirelessly any of  240,000 titles which are mostly under $10.00 for the best-sellers.  Feedbooks.com is a website which you can download to your Kindle that allows you to find free (gasp) books that are now available as part of the public domain and authors that choose to put books out to the public free.  So many classics I have wanted to read…
  10. It is just so freakin’ cool! Enough said there.
Since I suffer from bibliophilia ( the love of books) I have to tell you this helps feed the addiction in a way that does not cause me anxiety about where we are going to put one more book.  For this self proclaimed bookworm (A bookworm loves books for their content, or otherwise loves reading in general.), I must give it two thumbs up.
Back to the regular blog writing about all things related to sex and relationships.  Did I mention that I got Lady Chatterley’s Lover?
I mean how much better can it get when you can get a classic like that for free?  I am officially a happy woman now.
